Mormon Pinoy Newsroom recently released a news article that states that LDS Charities, the humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDSC) has responded to the call of DepEd for private sector participation in public education. The “One Child, One Lamp” Project aims to provide solar lamps to students of unenergized public schools. Students will be able to continue their studies at night, reduce their exposure to harmful fumes from kerosene lamps, and improve their overall academic performance. Three thousand solar lamps were donated by LDS Charities.  LDSC together with Mormon Helping Hands volunteers traveled to some remote areas on roads that were barely navigable.  A few of the schools were located in remote areas that could only be reached after hiking many hours or by habal-habal.
