Before Hurricane Matthew turned into a killer storm, Church leaders counseled with mission presidents and local church leaders in every country and church mission in its path according to Deseret News.
According to CNN the agency's Melbourne, Florida, office warned Thursday night that homes and buildings in central Florida "may be uninhabitable for weeks or months."
The hurricane is expected to be a Category 4 when it land fall, Paul Walsh told CNBC's. The fact that about 4 million people living in that area, hurricane Matthew is expected to rank 5th along with hurricane Sandy, Andrew and Katrina.
The LDS Church released a statement Wednesday on the impact of the hurricane:
Hurricane Matthew, a potentially catastrophic storm, has affected many parts of the Caribbean, including Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic and the Bahamas. Significant loss of life and severe damage to property has occurred, especially in Haiti. It is soon expected to impact the southeast United States over the next several days.
