After the announcement, Chu Ling told a Samoa Observer reporter, “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of Samoa and that the glory be to God for making it possible.”
In addition to Chu Ling’s employment, he volunteers as a lay leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons).
As president of the Church’s Upolu Samoa Malie Stake, Chu Ling provides leadership and counselling to around 2,000 Latter-day Saints in the Malie area.
There are 20 Latter-day Saint stakes in Samoa. Each stake is composed of several wards (congregations).
Chu Ling balances his time as a church leader along with his employment service in the Samoa Public Service where he has been employed for some 20 years.
