Elder Bird, a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, collapsed suddenly with symptoms resembling a brain aneurysm, slipping into a coma that lasted several weeks. Paramedics rushed to stabilize him, while his family and fellow missionaries offered prayers and priesthood blessings, acts he credits with his rapid and medically unexplainable recovery.
“I could feel the presence of angels,” Elder Bird recalled. “One of them was my aunt, who has passed away. Her unmistakable voice came to me and told me everything would be all right.”
Despite initially being unable to move, he regained control over his body with extraordinary speed. He attended a baptism as he had requested in faith and later resumed full missionary service, describing the events as evidence that “miracles keep happening today.”
Elder Bird said the experience left him with a profound sense of spiritual protection. “It is by faith that miracles become reality,” he said, reflecting on the blessings he received from both his missionary companion and his mission president during the emergency.
Medical professionals have been unable to explain the sudden collapse or the swift recovery, but for Elder Bird and those who prayed for him, the episode serves as a vivid affirmation of their faith and the power of divine guidance.
