Christian missionaries serving in the Washington Vancouver Mission were honored with a Community Impact Award during the Washougal City Council meeting last Monday, recognizing more than 20 years of consistent service to the local community.

The award was presented by Council member Ernie Suggs, who highlighted the missionaries’ long-standing contributions to Washougal through volunteer service and community engagement. Over the years, missionaries have supported local schools, youth programs, community events, and welfare initiatives, building strong relationships with residents and civic organizations alike.

The recognition took place during a City Council meeting attended by members of the Vancouver East Stake. As part of the meeting, President Ryan Kanzler, second counselor in the Stake Presidency, offered the opening prayer. He asked for unity and collaboration within the community, expressing hope “that we may continually find ways to come together, combine our strengths and talents, and move forward in ways that bring joy and peace to this community.”

City leaders noted that the missionaries’ efforts reflect a sustained commitment to service and outreach, with a focus on meeting local needs and strengthening community bonds. The Community Impact Award serves as a formal acknowledgment of their positive influence and dedication to the well-being of Washougal residents.

The evening underscored the value of partnerships between faith-based organizations and local government in promoting service, unity, and civic responsibility within the community.
