Utah is such a beautiful place, with it’s martian featured soil it’s definitely one of the best state available in America but did you know that a lot of movies were filmed in Utah? According to Utah Film Commission, more than 900 films have been shot in the state. So here are some of the movies that were filmed in Utah.

1. High School Musical

All three of the successful High School Musical films were almost entirely shot in Utah. The Movie was filmed in East High School in Salt Lake City, Murray High School, Jon M. Huntsman Center at the University of Utah, Snow Canyon Country Club, Murray, St. George, Midvale.​Most of the

Disney Channel film High School Musical was filmed at East. The opening scenes of its first sequel High School Musical 2(including the film’s opening number, “What Time Is It?”) were also filmed at East High. Additional filming took place in Saint George. The filming of the second sequel High School Musical 3: Senior Year began at East High on May 3, 2008.

2. Hulk (2003)

​Bruce Banner is transformed into a superhuman, green monster when angry in this film adaptation of the comic book character the Hulk. The movie was filmed in Arches National Park, Clive, Wendover

3. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (2007)

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End is a 2007 American epic fantasy swashbuckler film and the third installment of thePirates of the Caribbean film series. The plot follows Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), and the crew of the Black Pearl rescuing Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) from Davy Jones’s Locker, and then preparing to fight the East India Trading Company, led by Cutler Beckett (Tom Hollander), who controls Davy Jones (Bill Nighy) and plans to extinguish piracy forever. It is the last film in the series to be directed by Gore Verbinski. It was filmed in two shoots during 2005 and 2006, the former simultaneously with the preceding film, Dead Man’s Chest.Filmmakers used Utah’s waterless Salt Flats to create the setting for Jack Sparrow’s otherworldly exile in the final

Pirates of the Caribbean film.

4. Dumb and Dumber ​(1994)

Harry and Lloyd travel across the country in an attempt to return a suitcase full of money in this film about two-good natured but stupid friends.

5. Mission Impossible II (2000)

Tom Cruise reprised his role as Ethan Hunt in this sequel to the 1996 film. The film was shot in Dead Horse Point State Park, Moab, Monument Valley.

6. ​Superman III

Superman III is a 1983 British superhero film directed by Richard Lester, based on the DC Comics character Superman. It is the third film in the Superman film series and the last Superman film to be produced by Alexander Salkind and Ilya Salkind. The film stars Christopher Reeve, Richard Pryor, Annette O’Toole, Annie Ross, Pamela Stephenson, and Robert Vaughn. This film is followed by Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, released on July 24, 1987.

7. ​Transformers: Age of Extinction

​Transformers: Age of Extinction (or simply Transformers 4) is a 2014 3D science fiction action film based on the Transformersfranchise. It is the fourth installment of the live-action Transformers film series and a sequel/reboot to 2011’s Dark of the Moon, taking place five years after the battle of Chicago. ​

8. The Space Between Us

A new Sci-Fi Movie that will be released on August 2016, The Movie is about an astronaut sent to colonize Mars, she finds out that she’s pregnant and will give birth to the first space baby who now has to grow up on Mars as part of humans’ first colonization attempt. Thus technically making him an alien—how he deals with that, how humanity deals with that, and a romance that blossoms as a result.
​The Space Between Us is one of the most intriguing Sci-Fi films this year. But did you know that some of the scenes there were taken in Utah?

Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game which is also written by a Member of the Church) and Britt Robertson (Tomorrowland) star as the kids at the center of this interplanetary romance, while Gary Oldman and Carla Gugino provide other perspectives.
