he highly acclaimed Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square is set to  tour to the Philippines as part of the multiyear “Hope” world tour. The Choir’s visit to the Philippines is scheduled from February 20 to February 29, 2024, marking an exciting milestone in their musical journey.

The decision to include the Philippines on their tour reflects the rich musical heritage of the country. Filipinos are known for their deep-rooted choral traditions that have evolved from their indigenous origins. These traditions remain an integral part of Filipino culture today. Notably, the Philippines boasts one of the highest viewerships of the Choir’s weekly broadcast, “Music and the Spoken Word,” highlighting the deep connection between the Filipino people and the Choir’s music.

Mack Wilberg, the Choir’s music director, emphasized the universal appeal of music, saying, “Music is a universal language and can transcend cultural and language boundaries. We hope our musical message of hope will be felt in the hearts of the Filipino people.”

Choir President Michael O. Leavitt expressed the Choir’s enthusiasm for this historic tour, stating, “We are pleased to join with the people of the Philippines. We are confident the Choir’s concerts will provide a sense of hope by reflecting God’s love for all His children.”

This tour to the Philippines is part of a new pattern for The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square. Traditionally, the Choir traveled every two years, but now they are committed to visiting a new country at least once a year over the next four years. The aim is to increase the Choir’s global visibility and share their music with as many people as possible.

Information regarding concert venues and the availability of free tickets will be provided at a later date. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting musical journey, and get ready to be swept away by the harmony and hope brought by The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.
