Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles was confirmed to be in self-quarantine after a possible COVID-19 exposure.
He was unable to attend the General Conference and instead prerecorded his remarks.
“Out of caution, because he has been potentially exposed recently to COVID-19, Elder Gong is at home today,” said President Dallin H. Oaks, first counselor in the First Presidency, while conducting the Saturday afternoon session. “He feels fine, but he recorded his remarks earlier.”
Due to the pandemic, the conference was held virtually. All members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and First Presidency were present except for Elder Gong.
