.World leaders are expressing dismay, sadness and solidarity with France over the attack carried out by a man who drove truck into crowds of people celebrating France’s national day in Nice, France.
Authorities said Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel drove a rented, refrigerated truck weighing about 20 tons into crowds along a roughly 2-kilometer stretch of Promenade des Anglais on Thursday night, killing 84 people — including 10 children and adolescents — and injuring 202 others as reported by CNN
The following statement was released by The President of the Europe Area for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Patrick Kearon, Président de l’Eglise de Jésus-Christ des Saints des Derniers Jours pour l’Europe, et les membres de l’Eglise en France se joignent à toutes les personnes de bonne volonté pour exprimer leurs plus sincères condoléances aux familles et amis des victimes du dramatique événement survenu la nuit dernière à Nice. Nous pleurons aujourd’hui alors que nous considérons la tragédie qui vient d’avoir lieu et nous prions pour ceux qui sont touchés, pour leurs familles et leurs proches.
