PATTANI PROVINCE, THAILAND — Christians from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Information Technology Foundation under the Royal Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited Ban Don Rak School on February 4, 2026, to deliver much-needed equipment following widespread flooding that seriously disrupted education in the community.

The handover ceremony, held at the school in Don Rak Subdistrict, Nong Chik District, was led by school principal Mrs. Sopit Chimphlipak, who accepted the equipment on behalf of teachers, students, and local officials. The delegation also met with Jasmine Jaleh, a royal scholarship student whose determination amid adversity has inspired her peers and educators.

Between November 22 and December 2, 2025, devastating floods inundated large areas of Pattani and other parts of Thailand’s south, causing significant damage to schools and infrastructure. The disaster severely affected Ban Don Rak School — damaging classrooms, furniture, teaching materials, electrical and water systems, and outdoor spaces — forcing temporary disruption of instruction and creating safety concerns for students and staff.

To support recovery and help restore a safe learning environment, the Church provided essential items including eight standing fans, two double-door refrigerators, an A4 laminating machine, and forty sets of steel-frame desks and chairs for students. School officials said these supplies will help resume regular classes and improve conditions for both teachers and pupils.

The atmosphere at the ceremony was one of gratitude and community spirit, with teachers and students expressing heartfelt appreciation for the support and emphasizing its importance in helping the school move forward.

Local and international aid efforts have been part of broader recovery initiatives in southern Thailand following the 2025 monsoon season, which saw extensive flooding across multiple provinces, prompting government and civil society responses to restore normalcy for affected communities.
