The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released major updates to its Gospel Library and Member Tools mobile applications, introducing new features designed to strengthen gospel study, improve participation in worship services, and help members more effectively fulfill Church responsibilities. Announced on May 6, the updates are now available on iOS and Android devices and reflect the Church’s continuing effort to provide members with practical digital tools that support both personal faith and service within local congregations.

One of the most notable additions to the Gospel Library app is the new “Image of the Week” feature, which displays artwork depicting scenes from the life and ministry of Jesus Christ directly on the app’s home page. Unlike “Come, Follow Me” lesson materials, the weekly images are intended to provide members with daily spiritual reminders centered on the Savior regardless of where they are. Users can also enable notifications for new images and place the feature as a widget on their device’s home screen for easier access. Senior missionary Sister Janice R. Purdy said spiritual imagery has helped create a peaceful and comforting space for prayer and reflection, reminding her of the Savior’s love and presence.

The update also introduces new ward and branch tools that allow members to better participate when attending congregations outside their home unit. Using geo-location technology, members visiting another meetinghouse on Sundays can now access sacrament meeting hymns directly through the app and view posted Relief Society and Elders Quorum lessons for the ward or branch they are attending. Church leaders said the feature will especially benefit missionaries, traveling members, and leaders who frequently visit different congregations.

Additional improvements to Gospel Library include enhanced study plan features that allow users to create personalized study schedules and share direct links with family members or friends so they can study the same materials together at their own pace. Church leaders noted the update will particularly support youth participating in the weekly reading initiative tied to the updated For the Strength of Youth guide between May and August. For iOS users, the update also restores a highly requested full-screen navigation feature, allowing readers to hide toolbars for a more immersive scripture study experience.

Meanwhile, Member Tools version 5.5 introduces several administrative and organizational improvements aimed at helping members fulfill Church callings more efficiently. Teachers and leaders can now record teacher attendance alongside class attendance for children and youth, while attendance summaries provide a quick overview to help leaders better minister to members. Quarterly reports within the app have also been reorganized into categories that allow leaders to identify participation trends, including regular church attendance, youth with current temple recommends, and prospective elders attending Sunday School.

The update further expands the app’s “Member Lists” feature — formerly called Groups — allowing users to privately organize custom contact lists for purposes such as ward councils, substitute teachers, nearby members, or Primary parents. The Church emphasized that these lists remain private and are intended for personal organizational use. In addition, expanded account support options now allow users to manage Church account privacy settings, email subscriptions, loved ones’ accounts, and recovery assistance through the Church’s online account services.
