The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joined Bangrak Rotary Club and Rotary International District 3350 in donating seven wheelchairs to vulnerable residents in Bangkok’s Don Mueang district on April 22, supporting efforts to improve mobility and quality of life for individuals with disabilities and health limitations.

The handover ceremony took place at 10 a.m. in the Kamphaeng Phet Meeting Room on the second floor of Don Mueang District Office. Mr. Sombat Kanokthipwan, director of Don Mueang District, received the wheelchairs together with executives and personnel from the Community Development and Social Welfare Division.

The wheelchair donation formed part of a humanitarian initiative funded through the Church’s Giving Machine campaign during the Christmas season. The project focused on providing assistive devices to patients and individuals with disabilities who face challenges accessing mobility support.

Local officials and project organizers identified the donation as an effort to increase independence for recipients while easing physical and financial burdens on families and caregivers. The wheelchairs also expand opportunities for individuals with mobility limitations to access public services, participate in community activities and maintain greater daily independence.

The project highlighted cooperation among community organizations, local government agencies and faith-based groups working together to strengthen social support systems and promote long-term community development.

Organizers also viewed the initiative as an opportunity to encourage greater public involvement in humanitarian service and community care, reinforcing the role of collaborative service projects in improving the lives of disadvantaged residents.

The donation marked another step in ongoing efforts to provide practical assistance to vulnerable groups while promoting dignity, accessibility and sustainable community support in Bangkok communities.
