Rev 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

Palms 2:9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

Where do we find our everyday commandments?  Yes, we do search them in our scriptures in our ensigns our prophets, our temples, our chapels, and from other such sources.

We are counseled to hold on to the iron rod. This iron rod is the word of God found in our scriptures, and is mainly attributed to the Book of Mormon. The power of the Book of Mormon, or and, the scripture that says, “ruling with an iron rod” represents being taught through the principles and doctrine found therein. It brings power into our lives, to elevate us in holiness and cleanliness, as we live by its doctrines, principals, and teachings.

Ruling means to chasten the evil from our lives, and the vessels of the potter being broke to shivers, is dispersing the falsehoods, false doctrines, and traditions of men, from our lives.  As we read and study these scriptures we are reformed anew, and learn of a new way to conduct and direct our lives. Therefore we read the commandments found there in, and they teach us how to live, and how to behave, so as to come unto Christ!

Yet, there is more. Nephi was commanded by the spirit to do many things, and he was obedient to those commandments. We all have commandments given to each one of us through the spirit. The whisperings, inspirations, promptings, even dreams and other forms of revelations are a manifestations of these certain commandments.  Are we hearing, receiving of those feelings? Are we paying attention to them? Are we looking for, and preparing ourselves for their reception? And lastly are we being obedient to these commandments given to us by the spirit of God?

These are our own special commandments given to us by our Creator, and tailor made for our personal progression and improvement. These will chase away the evil desires, and pleasures that corrupt our lives. They will also disperse away our false rationalizations, reasoning, false doctrines, and traditions, we have imbued, from not only ourselves, but from others. These personal commandments are design to school us, to bless, to guide and to direct us, that we may then be a blessing to others. We ought to therefore give heed, observe, and keep these commandments that we received from on high. As we therefore hang on to this iron rod of inspirations and enlightenment, we will, each one of us, be personally led, one by one, to the tree of life, the love of God, enabling us to partake of the most desirable fruit found thereon.

D&C 84:43 – 45 And I now give unto you a commandment to beware concerning yourselves, to give diligent heed to the words of eternal life. For you shall live by every word that proceedeth forth from the mouth of God. For the word of the Lord Is truth, and whatsoever is truth is light, and whatsoever is light is Spirit, even the Spirit of JesusChrist.
