When we prepare for battle, we arm ourselves against our enemies, and our foes, for they will attack at will, especially when off guard, or when we least expect it. If we are sleeping, in our natural man state, and not standing and watching upon our high tower, we will be surprised, then overtaken and destroyed. Let our spiritual man awake and remain to stand, and be forever vigilant, marshaling ourselves, sometimes uniting together, to fight our common battles. We, therefore, fasten on our fighting armor, the whole armor of God, to withstand the day, so as to come off victorious. The battles that we fight are the manifolds of temptations of our flesh, and of this world, of dark places, false doctrines, and the conspirings of man. Let’s look at our spiritual armor of God, and the purposes and protections, that they serve and provide.

The helmet of salvation protects the head, which corresponds to the higher or interior knowledge of the gospel, the truths of faith, with the intelligence and wisdom that comes therefrom. It is keeping in the forefronts of our minds, the knowledge of the great atonement of our Lord. It protects us from the evil philosophies of man, sectarianisms, and other false doctrines of man. It also protects us from the high and the mighty, the erudite, and their invading destruction of our understanding of truths, and the false reasons and reasoning from them. We see and know, that our sword is sharp, ever which-way turning, with the truths of the gospel, which fight against, and protect us from, the errors, philosophies, false doctrines of man, and religions, defending also the virtues of man.

The buckler or breastplate of righteousness covers the breast, the heart and the lungs, corresponding to the affections of good and truth, and the purity and virtues of man, honesty, kindness, humility, and the love of our neighbor. Therefore we have guard against unholy affections and appetites of the belly. It also protects us from the affections, for the insanities, and the foolishness of man. It defends against unclean movies, poor choices of the internet, unwholesome television, physical and mental addictions, pride, mockings, and many other attacks the enemy uses. It protects us against the fiery darts of the adversary, trying to destroy our faith, and the love of our Lord, and His Gospel, and also from the enemies’ inflamed loves of self, and loves of the world.

The shield of faith protects both the head and the breast and protects us from having a lack of trust in the Almighty’s power to save. He will keep His promises. It fights against man’s own, or ego, doubt, fears, and lustful desires. It protects marriage, love, purity, and virtue.

The feet being shod corresponds to the natural man and its ability to resist temptation. It is man’s preparation, by being instructed and schooled in the gospel’s principals, and doctrines, having the gospel of peace and rest. It is the outer man having an agreement with the inner man, with a life of faith, charity, and good works.

Having the loins girded about, corresponds to the love of goodness, and therefore the marriage of truth with good, faith with love, and a conjunction, and oneness with our Lord, through the good of love, and by pondering, or having the word firmly implanted within. Anything and everything that attempts to destroy these marriages, or unions will be fought against and won.

Now that we or fully armored, let us stand and fight the good fight through righteous living, that we may be able to withstand the day, that we may have victory over all our enemies and all our foes. Let us wear this coat of armor each day, that we may rise up each morning, as the sun rises in the east (where God is found), praying, and reading the scriptures, so as to climb and clothe ourselves into this protective armor, preparing to fight our ever evading, attacking enemies of evil, and our foes, with their unsound doctrines of self and this world. We fight against the powers of the underworlds in all places and in all states, ever hoping to conquer, thereby coming off as victors.

The God Almighty is our General, and He will lead the charge, and will forever fight and battle for us, against our enemies and our foes. Let us injection ourselves with the principals of righteousness, and of repentance and forgiveness, so that we may run and not be weary, and walk and not faint, thereby to soar upon the wings of eagles, by which we march forward, onward, and upward, to our high calling of God.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Romans 8:35 – 39 “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?  As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Ephesians 6 15 – 18 Wherefore, lift up your hearts and rejoice, and gird up your loins, and take upon you my whole armor, that ye may be able to withstand the evil day, having done all, that ye may be able to stand. Stand, therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, having on the breastplate of righteousness, and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, which I have sent mine angels to commit unto you; Taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked;  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of my Spirit, which I will pour out upon you, and my word which I reveal unto you, and be agreed as touching all things whatsoever ye ask of me and be faithful until I come, and ye shall be caught up, that where I am ye shall be also. Amen.
