Following the Lord’s path and keeping His commandments, and virtues gives one the confidence and faith to ask of the Lord, and being then prepared to receive. After which the Lord is able to quickly respond to the wants and needs of his children. Yet, when we are slow to hearken unto our God, He will usually be slow to answer our petitions, pleas, and or, our prayers.       If we are off the train wandering around in the rail station, by not giving heed or by trusting in the flesh, I find that He will, in His perfect wisdom, permit us then to stretch, to pay the price, and to exercise our faith so that we may rightly feel after Him, and therefore once again board the train heading toward our, prepared by God, destination. Thereby we may reach greater heights, and earn spiritual blessing, just as we earn temporal things down here on this material planet. There must be an extension of the spiritual man, bringing forth the yielding of the fruits of the spirit. The principle is, as we know, faith precedes the miracle. We don’t get something for nothing in this material world, as we don’t receive spiritual manifestations without a spiritual effort. The Lord wants to see us have a real love for Him, and a wanting to feel after Him, before He, in His good pleasure blesses us. Yet, not for His own sake, yet it adds to his glory, but for the betterment, progression and joy of man himself,

Therefore the lifting of either temporal or spiritual weights, is absolutely necessary to becoming strong and healthy, vivifying both the body and the spirit. All of us need to understand that the rules and laws are pretty much the same for both the body and for the spirit. Yet, far too many neither understand the spiritual or inner man, nor if they do, do not at all spiritually exercise it. Therefore they are left with either a spiritual weakness, and or, their spiritual man is covered with a thick black, darkness, closing it off. Therefore they then become foolish, thinking themselves to be wise. God Forbid. Yet the Lord can awaken His sleeping children through is mercy and grace to give them a jumpstart, and thereby lifting us up again on to the train. Yet we must fully awake and respond.

Once when I was doing really well in living the gospel, and making sure that I was teaching my children the precepts taught to us my our prophets, I looked to my God for His aid and for His assistance. Yea, I was befuddled, for my son, a teenager at the time, was showing a few signs of disrespecting authority, yet, there was more, and I was uncertain how to wrap my mind around it, therefore I could not put words to it. I therefore went to the Lord with extreme confidence and said

“Father I don’t know what really is going on with our son, yet, something is not right and I have no idea either how to explain it, or what to do. I have been strictly obedient in following thine counsel through thy prophet concerning dating standards, dress and other counsel, and now I need thy help.”

It was not two days later that my son had a harrowing experience where it could of cost him his life, for he was being reckless and dare devilish. Of course restrictions where meted out, and over the next month he sobered up his attitude, and learned the lesson taught, by the experience. I will be for ever great-full for the Lords quick response to my petition, and was pleased with my then confidence and faith. I believed I was doing and living the gospel as I should and was therefore blessed for it.

D&C 101:7 – 9
They were slow to hearken unto the voice of the Lord their God; therefore, the Lord their God is slow to hearken unto their prayers, to answer them in the day of their trouble.  In the day of their peace they esteemed lightly my counsel; but, in the day oftheir trouble, of necessity they feel after me.  Verily I say unto you, notwithstanding their sins, my bowels are filled with compassion towards them. I will not utterly cast them off; and in the day of wrath I will remember mercy.

DC 121 45 Let thy bowels also be full of charity towards all men, and to the household of faith, and let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from heaven.
