The Philippines will soon welcome another house of the Lord as the Alabang Philippines Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is scheduled to be dedicated this Sunday. The dedication marks an important development in the Church’s presence in Asia and adds to the growing number of temples serving members in the Philippines.
Japan is home to the first temple built in Asia, the Tokyo Japan Temple, which was dedicated in 1980. Since that time, temples have been constructed in several Asian countries as membership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has grown across the region.

The Alabang Philippines Temple will provide Church members in southern Metro Manila and nearby areas with greater access to temple worship. Temples of the Church are considered houses of the Lord, where members participate in sacred ordinances that are central to their faith in Jesus Christ and focus on family-centered worship.
With the dedication of the Alabang Philippines Temple, the Philippines will have the same number of operating temples as Japan. This development reflects the continued establishment of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Asia and the expanding opportunities for members in the region to worship in temples closer to their homes.
