A missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was violently assaulted at his apartment in the Pamatai neighborhood of Faa’a on Monday, November 17. According to witnesses, the 18-year-old missionary opened his door after a loud knock and was immediately attacked and thrown over a balcony, falling approximately five meters. He was transported to a hospital for treatment and, after several days, was released to continue his recovery at another missionary’s apartment.
The missionary’s companion, who was inside the apartment during the attack, called emergency services but was not physically harmed. Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, though it is not yet clear whether the assault was a religiously motivated attack or a burglary gone wrong.

The injured missionary is now staying at another missionary’s apartment in Faa’a while he continues his recovery. The Church and the local community continue to offer prayers and encouragement as the elder recovers.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the assault, urging anyone with information to come forward. The incident has drawn attention to safety concerns for missionaries in the region and prompted a call for vigilance within the local community.
