The Europe North Area Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released a statement following the tragic attack at a synagogue in Manchester.
“The devastating attack in Manchester deeply saddens us. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost their lives, their families and loved ones, and all those who have been affected by this senseless act of violence,” the statement read.
The Church extended its gratitude to emergency responders and community members for their efforts during the crisis. “We extend our sincere gratitude to all the emergency responders and community members who have demonstrated courage, compassion and dedication in supporting those in need and continuing to care for those injured and their families,” the statement continued.
In expressing solidarity with the Jewish community, the Church reaffirmed its commitment to peace and interfaith respect. “In this time of sorrow, we offer our deepest condolences to the Jewish community. Echoing the late President Russell M. Nelson’s call for peacemakers in the world, we reaffirm our commitment to peace, compassion and respect for all faiths,” the statement concluded.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has urged continued support for those affected by the attack and emphasized the importance of compassion and community in the wake of such violence.
