Reports circulating online claim that a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was kidnapped during a violent attack early Saturday morning in the Kimbwala area of Kinshasa. However, as of this writing, these reports have not been verified, and no official statement has been released by the Church.
The incident, which reportedly occurred around 1:00 a.m. at a missionary apartment near the Kimbwala Stake Center, allegedly left one missionary critically injured in a knife attack. Another missionary, identified in online posts as Elder Yesu, is said to have been abducted during the same event.
Local members of the Church have circulated messages calling for prayers and assistance, and community leaders reportedly alerted local police, who are said to be conducting an active search. The situation has sparked concern and confusion within the local and international Latter-day Saint community.
Moroni Channel is actively trying to contact Church officials to verify the reported kidnapping. As of publication time, no official confirmation or comment has been issued by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
This remains a developing story. The Church is expected to release a statement once more information is confirmed.
