Nearly half a century after opening its doors, the Provo Missionary Training Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is preparing for a significant transformation. Church officials announced plans to rebuild the center’s cafeteria and administration buildings, facilities that have supported the training of hundreds of thousands of missionaries since 1978.
The new buildings are in the design phase and will replace the existing structures, which will be removed. Despite the scale of the project, the MTC is expected to remain fully operational throughout the multiyear construction period.
Situated on 39 acres in Provo, the MTC campus includes 16 buildings that house classrooms, residences, and administrative offices, as well as a campus store. Missionaries are trained in more than 50 languages before departing worldwide to share their faith.
Church leaders said the new cafeteria and administration spaces will provide a modern, uplifting environment designed to better support the spiritual and personal preparation of missionaries in the years ahead.
