Several hours after the evacuation alert was issued for the Tucson Arizona Temple, the Church of Jesus Christ in Arizona published a post assuring church members that the fire is miles away from the temple.
Evacuations have been ordered to residents near the affected areas and the evacuation alert for the temple remains. The fire grew to 6,200 acres with 10% containment as of Thursday, officials said.
The fire was caused due to a lightning strike and was reported to start in the Santa Catalina Mountains around 10 p.m. on June 5.
Additional updates will be provided as soon as new information is available.
