Children from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cuenca, Ecuador, competed in a regional judo tournament that brought together participants from several provinces in Ecuador and from Peru. The competition was held in the 5–9 age category and featured athletes from Cañar, Zamora, El Oro, and invited competitors from Peru.
Three children earned medals in the event: María Paula Fernández and Julián Mateo Carrillo each received silver medals, while Pablo Andrés Galán earned a bronze medal. Two additional participants, Maite Galán and Amanda Belén Galán, also took part and received recognition for their performances.
The young athletes are part of families within the local Church community and have been involved in training programs that include regular practice and participation in other activities such as music and sports.
