We live in the very day foretold by ancient American prophets. Today, the secret works of men are beginning to be exposed and spoken from the housetops through social media and independent investigative journalists and those who have witnessed or have been subjected to acts committed in darkness.
It is all coming to light. The secret combinations and secret societies that we the People have suffered to take hold among us are being forced into the open. And we are rightfully being brought face to face with that which we have fostered, aided, and abetted as a people by our wanton disregard for the sanctity of life and marriage and liberty, and by our complacent attitude that all is well in Zion
Along with the uncovering of the evil works of devils and men plotted and carried out in the darkness, we are blessed to see precursors to the unveiling of scripture to which we have not heretofore had access (see 2 Nephi 27:11). For example, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has published the Joseph Smith Papers, and more recently, the Eliza R. Snow Discourses.
We cannot fully obey the command and the warning to awaken to our awful situation unless we watch the prophetic warnings and the secular evidence empirically laid before us regarding the events of our day, pleasant or unpleasant as they may be (see Ether 8:24-26; Luke 12:3; 2Nephi27:11; Mormon5:8; Doctrine and Covenants 1:3).
We are not ostriches. At our eternal peril do we bury our impenitent heads in the sand and assume we are safe because we choose the false bliss of ignorance.
