Question:How can I be inspired in reading the scriptures?
Eliezer Arecega
Answer:
I am grateful for this question, “How can I be inspired in reading the Scriptures”. My first response was to look in the Scriptures, I found this – Job 32:8 But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding. As I read that verse it was clear that inspiration is not something we do to ourselves, it is what God does to us, that may be through the Holy Ghost, it may be through Home Teachers, our spouse or even our children. To receive inspiration the first thing we need to do is to ask for it. Next we need to prepare ourselves to receive it, are we reading the scriptures, and giving ourselves time to ponder them? One thing that is important to me is when I read do I read with a purpose, do I have a questions I want to find an answer for? I often find that if I have a question I focus on what I read, most of the time I do not find that answer right off but it is amazing that I will find answers to question I have had in the past that give me a better understanding to what I though was the answer given before.
