Q: Hello.. Is the commandment changed that says the seventh day is the Sabbath??? or where is it written that the Sabbath is the first day of the week in the bible or changed from the seventh day to the first day?

Lukas, Namibia Africa

A: The importance of the Sabbath is of a set apart day. In Old Testament times, this was the seventh day, as that is the day of rest after the Creation.

However, after the resurrection of our Savior on Sunday, that was set aside as the Lord's day, upon which we now celebrate the Sabbath.

The first to do so were none other than Christ's own disciples, like we read of in Acts 20:7, "And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight."

That celebration has continued on to this day, and with rare exceptions, all Christian churches, including our own Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, celebrate Sabbath on the Lord's day.
