The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held a small groundbreaking ceremony for the new Layton Utah Temple. Following the guidelines set by the CDC, the Church held the event by invitation to limit mass gatherings.
In a statement released by Irene Caso, spokesman of the Church, the First Presidency assigned the Utah Area Presidency to conduct a “small-scale groundbreaking” held Saturday. Church leaders determined that a traditional temple groundbreaking, with invited guests, was not prudent.
A recording of the proceedings will be released next week.
