President Russell M. Nelson announced last month that the iconic Provo Utah Temple would undergo a significant renovation.
The church will reconstruct the temple when the Orem Utah Temple is complete. The changes are similar to Ogden Utah Temple, which also underwent significant renovations like any other temple of the church.
The location will remain the same overlooking the Provo MTC and Brigham Young University.
The church released an earlier statement that temple designs are only but secondary to their purpose.
“A temple’s design, both internal and external, is secondary to its primary purpose, which is for people to draw closer to God and His Son, Jesus Christ, by participating in sacred ceremonies that teach of God’s plan and unite families forever.”
Moroni Channel will cover the updates of the temple as the story develops.
